Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

People who have worked in Canada for at least a year may qualify for permanent immigration under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program.

The Canadian government recognizes the large number of talented workers who already work in the country and wants them to become permanent residents. These are individuals and families who have established roots and made future plans in Canada.

To fulfill the minimum Requirements for the Canadian Experience Class You must:

  • meet the language proficiency requirements for each of the four language skills—writing, reading, listening, and speaking.
  • At least one year of full-time work experience in a skilled trade or industry within the previous three years.

Your work experience came from legally working in Canada. Work experience entails:

  • Managerial jobs (skill level 0)
  • Professional jobs (skill type A)
  • Technical jobs (skill type B)

You should be able to demonstrate that the duties you performed are outlined in the lead statement of your occupation’s description, which can be found in the National Occupational Classification (NOC). Including all essential duties and the majority of the main duties listed on the list.

“Please be aware that experience gained through self-employment and/or employment while a student does not count toward this.”
