Super Visa
A super visa allows you to visit your children or grandchildren for up to two years. It is a multi-entry visa that allows multiple entries for up to ten years. To be eligible for a super visa, you must be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
have a signed letter from your child or grandchild inviting you to Canada that includes the following information:
- A promise of financial support for the duration of your visit
- The list and number of people living in this person’s home
- a copy of this individual’s Canadian citizenship or permanent resident card
possess medical insurance from a Canadian insurer that is:
- Valid for a minimum of one year from the date of entry.
- Coverage of at least $100,000
- Have proof of medical insurance payment (quotes are not accepted).
You must also:
- apply for a super visa from outside of Canada.
- Be permitted to enter Canada
- Take a medical exam for immigration.
- Meet certain other requirements
This application does not allow you to include dependents.
Financial support or proof of funds
The child or grandchild who invites you must demonstrate that their household earns the bare minimum. The following are some examples of documents that can be used as proof of funds:
- The most recent tax year’s Notice of Assessment (NOA) or T4/T1
- Pay stubs for employment insurance
- Account statements
- Employment letter with salary and start date
- Pay slips
